I am facing the same localConnecton performance issue. Current Flash Player version is 10.3 BUT it seems Adobe have had no update for it so far.

I simply send from a Flex app to a Flash app a short string in localConnection. It works actually but the delay is about 2 seconds. Very annoying.

It is amazing to me how many people don't understand basic economics like this. Maybe people are just too lazy to really look at the numbers and see what happens when taxes are raised on the rich vs lowered. The old name servers still work (when you are on the BellSouth network and you haven't migrated to AT&T Yahoo!), and the new ones provide additional features (TLS encryption, ability to be used off network, etc..).
