Minecraft on Mountain Lion

If you get the error message that Minecraft is damaged after you download it, do the following:

1. Open System Preferences
2. Choose Security & Privacy
3. Click the lock to make changes
4. Change the setting “Allow Applications downloaded from” to Anywhere

Minecraft should now work on Mountain Lion (Mac OS X 10.8)

  1. After doing this, it “installed” however, opening it, even from the .jar gives me a crash report. I don’t think it’s working with the latest installation of Java.
“Minecraft has stopped running because it encountered a problem; Failed to start game
This error has been saved to /Users/Anna/Library/Application Support/minecraft/crash-reports/crash-2012-10-27_10.35.43-client.txt for your convenience. Please include a copy of this file if you report this crash to anyone.”

The only help I’ve ever been able to find is “just disable GateKeeper” well it’s been off since I downloaded the thing, and it still doesn’t work. Does anyone else have this problem? And how do I fix it?

Forums everywhere give me the same cookie-cutter answer.
